The Reporting Glossary is intended to provide an understanding of Reporting capabilities and detailed definitions of all available Metrics and Dimensions.
Fields | Description |
Subscribers | A metric retrieved from the YouTube API is YouTube Channel Subscribers Gained minus YouTube Channel Subscribers Lost. |
Channel Views | As defined by YouTube, this metric is defined as the number of times that your channel (all the videos) was viewed. |
Average view duration | As defined by YouTube, this metric is the average length, in seconds, of video playbacks. This is a trend metric, presenting a value by the Date of engagement. |
Trend of Profile Growth - subscribers gained and subscribers lost | Subscribers Gained: As defined by YouTube, this metric is the number of times that users subscribed to a channel. A channel can gain or lose subscribers in several places, including the video watch page, the channel page, and the guide that appears on the YouTube home page. In channel reports, this metric includes subscribers gained from any of these places. However, in reports that use either the video dimension or the filter parameter to restrict the response to only include data for a particular video, the Subscribers Gained metric will only include statistics from the specified video's watch page. Subscriber Lost: As defined by YouTube, this metric is the number of times that users unsubscribe from a channel. Data for this metric is reported similar to the Subscribers Gained metric. In channel reports, this metric includes subscribers lost through any mechanism through which users can unsubscribe from a channel. However, in reports that use either the video dimension or the filter parameter to restrict the response to only include data for a particular video, this metric only includes users who unsubscribed from the specified video's watch page. |
Average Views per Video | The average views per youtube video over a period of time, |
Video Engagement Breakdown | The engagement breakdown on the youtube channel such as views, likes, comments, and shares. |

Top Referrers | As defined by YouTube, these metric aggregates View data based on the referrer type, which describes the manner in which users reached the video. This metric must be used in conjunction with the dimension YouTube Video Referrer. |
Audience by Demographics | The segregation of number of followers on a Youtube video by demographics- age, income, gender, place, etc. |
Video Views by Demographics | This metric is provided via the YouTube API and includes the number of views of the YouTube Channel. |
Audience by Gender | The segregation of number of followers on a Youtube video by gender. |
Audience by Device Type | As defined by YouTube, this metric is the number of times that a video was viewed. This should be used with the Device Type dimension. |
Subscribers Insight | It refers to the analysis of channel subscribers and change in channel subscribers. |
Video Likes by Country | As defined by YouTube, the metric Video Likes is the number of times that users indicated that they liked a video by giving it a positive rating. YouTube Video Likes by Country should be used in conjunction with the dimension Country. |
Video Dislikes by Country | As defined by YouTube, Video Dislikes are the number of times that users indicated that they disliked a video by giving it a negative rating. YouTube Video Dislikes by Country should be used in conjunction with the dimension Country. |
Video Views by Country | YouTube defines YouTube Video Views as the number of times that a video was viewed. YouTube Video Views by Country should be used in conjunction with the dimension Country. |
Channel Views by Country | This metric is provided via the YouTube API and includes the number of views of the YouTube Channel. This metric should be used in conjunction with the dimension Country. |
